ARE YOU AND YOUR FOUNDATION A PERFECT MATCH?

Choosing the right shade of foundation is much easier said than done.  Too often we see people with too light or too dark foundation, giving it a mask-like look.

Not setting a good "foundation" to build on detracts from your natural features, rather than enhancing them.

One of the causes of this - many people try to match their shade of foundation using some part of their hand or arm as a match.  I say, go straight to the source.  Using your jawline as the matching board will not only let you see how the foundation will look on your skin, but how well it blends into your neck.

Another contributing factor - don’t wear hand-me-down foundation!  Not because your friend or family member is no longer using their foundation (possibly because they have just found their right shade) that does not mean you’ve won the jackpot because now you don’t have to buy!

When you do find that perfect match, remember, a little goes a long way.  If you don’t need a lot of coverage, focus on the fore head, down the nose, eyes cheeks and chin.  Set with finishing powder and you have good base to support the rest of your make up.

MAKE UP NEWS!

A warm welcome to Lancôme for the women of colour! They have introduced their first line of products to include foundation for darker complexions.

Now, a lot of makeup companies are noticing that women of colour are getting a lot more interested in beauty than they were a few decades ago. Lets look at it this way, decades ago, wearers of their products and persons who could afford and would spend on their products were Caucasian, and so much of their product base and marketing efforts were for that market.  Also, black women are playing a greater role in every society and the jobs they hold allows them and encourages them to look pretty at work.  Their roles and income levels also opens them up to be able to afford what are seen as more affluent brands. The short of it, companies are recognising the spending potential of women of colour.  Cover Girl did it 5 years ago with their “Queen Collection” and so did Chanel  last September with their “Perfection Lumière” collection.

The “Teint Idole Ultra” by Lancome is a “14-hour ultra-resistant makeup delivering flawless, full-coverage that lasts. The retouch-free, oil-free formula features Lancôme’s SoftFeel™ technology glides on to comfort skin with flawless full coverage. Divine comfort leaves skin feeling soft, comfortable and silky-smooth hour after hour.

When all is said and done, for $44USD we expect makeup to look and feel different than a $10 bottle of Black Opal!  But whatever your preference, your skin and skin type will dictate what’s best for you… oh yea, and so does your budget!  LOL!

Have fun experimenting, you'll get it right!
